ஸ்ரீ வரதராஜப் பெருமாள் திருக்கோயில்
Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple stands as the ancient guardian of Vaishnavism in Puducherry town. Constructed in the 12th century during the late Chola and early Vijayanagara periods, the temple is sanctified by the presence of Lord Varadaraja Perumal, who bestows boons (Varam) upon faithful seekers. The sanctum houses a magnificent 5-foot standing granite idol of Lord Vishnu with four hands holding the holy conch (Shankha), discus (Chakra), mace (Gada), and lotus (Padma). Behind the main temple stands the sacred temple tank (Theertham) with natural perennial freshwater springs.
Dravidian stone craftsmanship with a 5-tiered Rajagopuram, an enclosed prakaram, and a sanctified mirror hall (Kannadi Arai) for divine ceremonies.
